The golden rule: weigh and remove every dog ingredient before garlic, spring onion, soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil or salt enters the human pan. Separate first, then season.

Why this format suits a Corgi household

Pembroke Welsh Corgis are small dogs with enthusiastic appetites, so the useful breed-specific feature here is not a fashionable ingredient. It is portion visibility. Cooked weights and a known energy density make it easier to serve a measured amount instead of letting a compact dog inherit a human-sized bowl.

The lean beef supplies protein without the much higher fat load of regular mince. Rice and cooked vegetables make the bowl easy to divide. Sardines add marine omega 3 and eggshell adds measured calcium, but neither replaces the remaining vitamins and minerals required in a complete formulation.

Use your dog's individual calorie target and body condition, not the serving size of another Corgi. Activity, age, neuter status and health can change energy needs considerably.

Cook once, finish two ways

  1. Cook the rice plainly

Cook the rice in water without stock, salt or seasoning. Set aside the measured dog quantity with clean utensils.

  2. Cook the dog vegetables

Steam or sauté the carrot, zucchini and spinach with a little water until tender. Weigh the dog quantities into a large clean bowl before any human seasonings come near the pan.

  3. Brown the beef

Cook the beef thoroughly in a clean pan without oil or seasoning. Drain excess fat. Weigh 450 g of cooked beef into the dog bowl. Only after that portion is safely removed should you season the human beef.

  4. Finish your bibimbap

Return the human beef and vegetables to the pan. Add garlic, spring onion, soy sauce and sesame oil. Mix gochujang, rice vinegar and honey into a sauce. Divide the human rice between two bowls, arrange the beef and vegetables on top, add a fried egg and serve the sauce separately.

  5. Cool the dog's batch

Mix the plain beef, rice and vegetables and allow them to cool fully. Fold in the chopped hard-boiled egg, drained sardines and olive oil.

  6. Add the calcium and portion

Stir in enough finely ground eggshell powder to provide approximately 1,562 mg elemental calcium. Mix extremely well, then divide by weight according to your dog's calorie target.

NRC/AAFCO comparison: the estimated calcium to phosphorus ratio sits within the adult maintenance range commonly used in formulation. A suitable ratio does not mean the recipe meets every NRC or AAFCO nutrient target. The recipe has not undergone feeding trials or laboratory analysis.

Calculated from the cooked weights using USDA FoodData Central reference values, including cooked 90% lean ground beef record 171793. What to add for regular feeding

Eggshell calcium: the calculation targets approximately 1,562 mg elemental calcium for the full batch. This is about 3.9 g, or roughly ⅞ teaspoon only if your finely ground powder supplies about 1,800 mg per teaspoon. Weigh it when possible and check the product information.

Marine omega 3: the plain sardines provide EPA and DHA. The amount varies between fish and brands, so they are a food source rather than a guaranteed therapeutic dose.

Recipe-specific completer: for sole long-term feeding, use a canine home-cooking completer only when its directions are formulated for these exact ingredients and cooked weights. If the completer already contains calcium or fish oil, follow its directions instead of doubling up.

This recipe is not complete and balanced as written. Eggshell and sardines address calcium balance and marine omega 3, but they do not establish adequate iodine, zinc, copper, manganese, vitamin D, vitamin E and every other essential nutrient.

⚠️ Bibimbap ingredients dogs must avoid

Keep garlic, onion, spring onion, gochujang, soy sauce and salty or spicy marinades out of the dog portion. Do not add xylitol, grapes, raisins, macadamias, chocolate, alcohol or cooked bones. Check packaged sauces carefully because onion and garlic may appear in the ingredient list even when they are not obvious from the product name.

Portioning, storage and vet check

The dog batch weighs about 1.23 kg and provides approximately 144 kcal per 100 g. Six equal portions would contain roughly 295 kcal each, but that is a batch division, not a universal daily allowance. Use your dog's established calorie target and include treats and toppers in the daily total.

Refrigerate promptly in a covered container for up to 3 days, or freeze measured portions for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and serve cool or gently warmed.

Check with your veterinarian before changing your dog's diet. Puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs, and dogs with pancreatitis, kidney disease, liver disease, urinary disease, allergies or another medical condition need an individually formulated plan.
